Dear UCHC Faculty and AAUP staff: I just learned that Barbara Kratochvil of AAUP attempted to send an email to UCHC faculty on 9/21/09. The message contains news on a quorum of cards signed and the next moves leading to a vote for unionization. The message also contains links to AAUP responses to the University Administration's list of Frequently Asked Questions/Admin-generated responses. Many or most of us may not have received this news. The UCHC spam filter system appears to have captured Barbara's email preventing delivery. Also, some faculty (including me) were not listed among the addresses to which it was sent. These messages and documents, as well as links to the new http://WWW.UCHCAAUP.Org web page are now posted on the faculty discourse blog. This blog also holds a large archive of previous discussion on the unionization and hospital merger questions. Please include my email address wMohler@neuron.uchc.edu in any future communications concerning AAUP! Please also CC to mohler.william.uchcfacultydiscourse@blogger.com to ensure that any news or discussion reaches the broadest possible audience. Free and open distribution of information is critical at this stage! I have submitted a request to the help desk that AAUP.org messages not be spam filtered. I would suggest that AAUP staff make sure to follow up and be certain that their messages reach UCHC recipients. Please note that the UCHC AAUP page also hosts several active discussion fora on the following topics:
