In response to the question: "Additionally, are you aware of any of these councils taking a stand against proposed or actual institutional policy and as a result having that policy modified?"
Yes, during my service on the Med School Education Council, I took part in a vote to reject a proposal from the Dean's Council on faculty salary adjustments. To my knowledge, this proposal has not been enacted and is undergoing revision. In this sense, I have seen the current system function correctly, allowing clear expression of faculty voices through the existing committees.
