On this Thursday 11/12/09, at 3pm in the Low Learning Center of UCHC, there will be a meeting via tele/video-conference with faculty, administration, and union representatives from UMDNJ, a multi-school health center organization in New Jersey where faculty have been unionized with AAUP for more than 30 years.
The room will remain available for discussions until as late as 6pm, if needed.
This meeting will be open to any person wishing to attend: pro-/anti-union faculty, administrators, et. al. One goal of the meeting is to have an open Q/A session on what the impacts have been of the UMDNJ AAUP chapter upon the faculty and the the status that institution. It is hoped that the experience can lead voting faculty to make a more informed decision on whether or not an AAUP chapter should be formed at UCHC (and how it might be structured if the vote is Yes).
I would greatly appreciate getting some idea of the numbers of expected UCHC attendees. Would those who are confident that they will be able attend please email me back so I can form a rough estimate? Note that anyone who cannot attend physically should be able to join the meeting by telephone or internet: ask me for more details.
If you know of anyone who has not been receiving faculty-wide emails, please forward this message on to them.
Bill
