Hi All,
I do not know to whom to address this comment, but since the literature from the Storrs AAUP makes it quite clear (quoting President Hogan) that we are One University and that Department Chairs are in the Union at Storrs, and Ed Marth said the same in public. Thus, I wish to record my complaint (if the result is what most of us think it will be) that I am swept into a union for which I was not given the right to vote up or down. I think the level of mutual distrust on many issues right now is at a record all-time high, and I am not certain whose conflicting view I should accept as truth. I suspect only a court will decide, after the vote. Anyhow, I think it only fair that Department Chairs and Center Directors be allowed to vote, even with votes separate and impounded, since most feel the statements from Storrs are correct and we will be swept into the union that is impending, barring an astounding change in a set of Administration attitudes (both in Farmington and Storrs). My personal views on the Union are not the issue here, only my voting rights before being swept with the tide.
Thank you.
