The state Labor Relations Board is "the board" which sets the rules for and oversees the vote. Ken Hampton, probably the agent that Karen mentions, conducted the 10/13 meeting in Wethersfield and is overseeing our vote. Any changes to the announced schedule appear to be up to his (or his director's) decision.

Per Karen's message and my experience he has been disinclined to bend on the issue of dates or absentee votes. What seemed clear to me in my phone call to him was that Mr. Hampton has probably not dealt with unionizing a workforce of executive- and physician-level workers before and may not appreciate the unique calendar and schedule demands that the UCHC faculty experience. As Ms. Wallace mentions, this is not a new issue in the eyes of UCHC HR.
