Really? The faculty at Storrs do not have a provision that reduces their salaries based upon percentage of grant funds covering their salaries! Hardly parallel.
Karen Duffy Wallace:
On the union vote: all merit salary increases must be frozen until negotiations are complete (up to 18 months) if the vote is For unionization. There's no other way to put this. THIS IS A LIE! Raises negotiated prior to the call for an election, as the merit raises were, would not be viewed as and would not constitute an unfair labor practice. This is a shameful threat! It is not true and Karen Duffy Wallace knows it!

Comments from Bill Mohler:
ReplyDeleteI can't guarantee that I have quoted the parties perfectly. Consider my notes paraphrased impressions.
Nonetheless, the statements being attacked here are pretty much what I heard. In response to the first critique, the two seem pretty analogous: 9 months = 75% guaranteed. You cover the rest off of grants or clinical income (or TE). It is true that this would be a step back toward reality for the UCHC tenured faculty.
On the second point, why not de-anonymize your self and convey the correct facts to admin and hr, if you find the statement wrong.
Note: I personally am finding the anonymous bluster a bit much. Get some guts and give your name if you're going to be so bombastic. Part of my feelings for Ed Marth come from my suspicions that he's our anonymous venom-poster. If the truth is otherwise, let me know.
