I’m really weary of these email propaganda blasts.
The question is (and I don’t know the answer): are there any LEADING academic medical institutions with a unionized faculty? No disrespect to anybody intended, but New Jersey is hardly known as an academic powerhouse in the same league as Mayo, MGH, Cleveland Clinic, Columbia, Baylor, etc… places I signed on here on the basis of promises the UCHC was striving to reach the same status.
The problem is: unless you’re willing to strike, everything is based on promises. Promises, promises, promises. I’ve found that they’re worth only the air used in pronouncing them. If a strike threat doesn’t stand behind negotiations, then a union is just another tax on my income. Frankly, we each have the ability to strike anytime we want….leave. I don’t need a union to think about that possibility either.
Any more of this propaganda delivered to my email account will be regarded as harassment.
