Faculty colleagues:

I find the Adobe pdf file that I just received from the administration to be somewhat ambiguous as to what point it is making.

Three simple points:

1. The holidays are basically the same, if one counts the specific holidays and holiday weeks received by Storrs faculty.

2. The use of the mean (or average) for salary comparisons is not appropriate, considering that the salaries at both institutions is highly, positively skewed. UCHC has a huge fraction of the top 100 paid state employees and will continue to do so. To infer that with a union, that our salaries will become like UConn Storrs is not accurate.

3. The so-called average pay increments (e.g., $10,000) are not reflected by a quick, non-scientific survey of a few colleagues. Perhaps these are the typical raises for those who make $300,000 to $900,000 per year.
