I can send Board of Trustee information about the record of dramatic increases in funded research at Storrs (for any who want to look it up it can be found at the site for Board of Trustees budget workshop information.

Your question about what role UCONN 2000 or 21st Century had to do with this (of course buildings don’t do the research, the faculty do), is not clear to me. AAUP played a major role in working with the University leadership and the Alumni and the Foundation in creating the legislative support for the UCONN 2000 project. We have never taken sole credit for it but we were part of it. In fact, it underscores our primary argument that important things of any scale need organization and many people working together to bring about positive change. We have helped to provide and secure against encroachments support for faculty to do their job; it is a supportive role with observable results.
