I have read almost all of these messages, but tend not to clutter everyone’s in-box. I think Larry’s suggestion is most interesting.
It strikes me that this also reflects [from the Duffy-Wallace/LRB and perhaps even Marth and AAUP] a lack of realization of how faculty really work, how academic clinicians work, the kinds of travel we are involved in – even with the state travel-ban in place, of people usually involved in labor. We are generally not shift workers, as a faculty we are located from East Hartford, the Burgdorf clinic, West Hartford, etc. We have national and international responsibilities. Some people have clinical work overnight that may impact their availabilities, etc. Even our colleagues in Dowling South have extra work to get up here those days.
These points could be made in an article too. My national meeting this year is 10/27-11/1 in San Diego, next year it will be the comparable week of the election – I suspect one of our national meetings is then.
Thanks.
Nancy Adams
