As I believe I am the oldest faculty member who is currently active at the Health Center, and unfortunately one who cannot vote in this election, I would like to make just one plea. This obviously has been very divisive. There have been a lot of accusations and counter accusations. Whatever happens after the vote I would plead for the faculty to accept that vote and to continue to work together in a collaborative way. One thing this has brought out is some serious concerns and needs among the faculty, which need to be addressed. This can be done with or without a union. That's what is important. We have all devoted a great deal of time and energy to maintaining and improving UCHC and I still dream that some day this will be the first truly great State medical school in the northeast.
