From Bill Mohler: Online Balloting? [was Re: Important News on unionization effort. Election Nov 17-18.]

Fellow Faculty

Do I recall correctly that the vote in 2000 was conducted by some sort
of online ballot? I do not remember going to a specific place at a
specific time.

Perhaps I'm wrong. But I know the technology exists, and this approach
might allow those off-site or away to vote without needing to come park
up on the hill on specific days at specific hours. As many have noted,
this is not really a single "shop" or "shift" that is going to be voting.

The administration frequently-uses secure online voting tools to assist
the faculty in making governance decisions. Might the union and
administration be convinced/allowed to provide voting access through
these tools for this extraordinarily important decision on the future of
the institution?
