Ed-
As a matter of fact, I was never invited to an organizational meeting (other than one I could not attend) or to offer opinions. When I have offered opinions, either directly or in this virtual forum, they have been ignored or attacked.
I learned of the scheduling of the election from a popup window on your website only today. The news has never been delivered directly to the Faculty, except by me. I learned of the results of the card collection only by being forwarded an email, because my name was conspicuously excluded from the addressee list.
I have put in a bit of time accumulating all of the discourse that I have read on this topic on the blog. Other than my own initial incredulity (in July) over the text content of the cards, I have seen no comments from any of the people skeptical or critical of unionization that has approached the level of dogmatic, insulting, autocratic condescention that has been flowing today from proponents of the Pro vote.
What does that say about democratic process and open, thoughtful discussion? Why do you assume that you know how I or any other voter will vote? I must admit that each entry from you in these conversations has had me wondering more and more what our executive director (should we have one from AAUP) would provide us in terms of thoughtful listening and answers to our concerns.
