This is a great idea and seems perfectly legitimate and fair to me - I can't imaging that there would be objection to this method by anyone and think that the labor board should be contacted about the possibility of voting this way as it is essential that all faculty have the opportunity to voice their opinion regardless of where they happen to be working on the 17th and 18th. I can log on to the system, but can't see the election - most likely due to the basic science invisibility screen.
