Attached are the election results from the Union Vote in December 2000.
As you can see there is a similar percentage of eligible voters [85%] who indicated their choice about unionization in 2000 versus 86% in 2009. However the margin of those in favor versus those opposed to unionization is distinctly different.
In the days before the vote, there were numerous meetings/sessions held by both sides to inform the faculty. Based on attendance at these meetings there seemed to be an apathy amongst the faculty on this issue.
The series of e-mails around the time of the election and now after the election reflect the stark divisions on this matter. These discussions should have occurred as live interchange between faculty at the meetings and not in these never ending e-mails
