From Thomas Agresta: RE: From Bill Mohler: Uncast votes

As one of those individuals who was at a national meeting and unable to vote, I am very upset about the inability to account for this in our voting process.

I was also at this meeting with five other faculty who were eligible to vote, but likewise unable to do so. Wile there I was presenting work, helping to lead an educational team from UConn to better their knowledge and skills in Medical Informatics (a crucial skill for our institution) as well as attempting to recruit faculty for the posted positions.

While we did not discuss what each of us would choose with regards to unionization (A private matter of choice) we did all agree that we felt disappointed an appropriate mechanism was not put in place to allow us to vote. We need to account for that and change it. And for those who say that this was a well publicized a process, I would argue that it was immediately pointed out that an alternative option for voting needed to be put in place for those unable to attend in person.

I would strongly encourage those of us unable to vote to write letters / make calls as appropriate to let us have our voices heard.

I am willing to support what a majority of my peers vote for in a positive way – but not if they were not given adequate options to be heard.
